On Saturday, 5 September 2015, I finally hosted my first Beauty Workshop in Durban. After much questioning and planning, the workshop came together, venue was booked and sponsors made their final sponsorships. Was I nervous, YES, did I know if everyone was going to pitch, NO. But was I happy to make a difference in the lives of the women who did attend.
I sent out an email a few months back asking ladies if they would like to attend a Beauty Workshop where I will be speaking about the trending topics in the beauty world and also perform demonstrations of "How To" achieve certain looks, I also asked them for suggestions for the topics or makeup looks they wanted me to cover, the most popular one being Contour & Highlighting. I did include a disclaimer that I was not a professional makeup artist but I did create and film beauty videos over the past years which has allowed me to develop certain skills and tricks to achieve the professional makeup artist look.
More ladies were drawn to my approach to the "blogger on a budget" and could not help but sign up for the workshop. After a month of planning the day finally arrived. I decided to host the workshop at the same venue that Dale & I had our wedding, The Emakhosini Boutique Hotel. The hotel was so accommodating and they built a Hi-Tea menu especially for my event.
The ladies arrived that morning, dressed in white & denim from head to toe. I provided headbands, mirrors and makeup remover for each lady, together with gift bags from the amazing sponsors. The workshop commenced where I spoke about my blog and the reason for the workshop. We then stripped away the makeup from our faces to start on a "clean canvas". From there we did the perfect Eyebrow Tutorial and followed with a Day to Night look. We ended with the perfect Foundation Application routine and a Contour & Highlighting tutorial. Most of the ladies came away with skills & tricks and urged me to host another workshop in the near future.
Firstly thank you to every lady who attended, your support means so much to me and I truly appreciate it. Thank you to my lovely parents and husband for supporting my vision and making the day possible. Lastly to my sponsors for the amazing gifts for the day, thank you Oh So Heavenly, Moroccan Oil, Blkgirlbeauty, Brand hree Sixty who gifted amazing branded goodies all the way from the states.
I am defiantly thinking of planning another Workshop so will keep you posted on the blog. I hope you enjoy the pictures from the day seeing as some of you could not attend. Stay Blessed!
